This webpage details the One Day Classes offered by Southwestern Watercolor Society.

In addition to One Day Classes, SWS also offers six Multi-Day Workshops per year: 3 in the spring and 3 in the fall.

Painting Your Story with Monica Austin

Monica Austin will lead participants in an SWS one day class, diving into the mechanics of storytelling specifically with watercolor. Learn how to effectively transform your memories and emotions into visual stories for better results.

"Every painting begins with a spark - an image, a memory, a feeling - and becomes a story only you can tell," Monica says. This class is about uncovering that story and letting it guide every brushstroke. Where do you want to take your viewer? The class will explore how story and emotions shape composition, and how values bring depth, focus, and meaning to your work. Through shared exercises, you will see how a single subject can shift dramatically when viewed through different narratives. Then the focus turns to you: what do you want YOUR painting to say?

Payment in full is required for our One-Day Classes at time of registration.

ONE-DAY CLASSES POLICY:

The one-day local classes will offer watercolorists the opportunity to broaden their experience under the guidance of accomplished local artists.

Workshop enrollment is typically limited to 15-20 participants. Reservations are accepted in the order in which they are received. Wait lists are also formed in the order that requests are received.

There is no deposit with one-day classes. Payment will be made in full at the time of registration and the workshop refund policy will be followed.

*(If you are a member and accidentally register as a nonmember, you will not be able to obtain a refund. Please be aware when you register.)

Cancellation/Refund Policy

The cancelling member shall contact the One Day Class Coordinator as soon as possible to facilitate replacement. The SWS wait list has first priority over other students who are not on the wait list.

Upon a student’s cancellation of a class at least one month prior to the start date of the One Day Class, the fee is 100% refundable.

Upon a student’s cancellation less than one month prior to the start date of the class, the fee is refundable only if the space is filled and paid for.

There are no refunds for no-shows or withdrawals the day of the class.

SWS reserves the right to cancel classes due to insufficient enrollment or other reasons. If SWS cancels a class, applicants will receive a full refund.
