The Rob Erdle Memorial Award fund is 100% dedicated to funding the annual Rob Erdle Memorial Award at SWS' annual member exhibition.With outstanding credentials, Rob Erdle joined the faculty of No Texas Univ in 1976 where he taught painting & drawing for 30 years. He was head of the watercolor program for 25 yrs. While teaching at the UNT, Rob also was an instructor for ten years at the Amer College of Switzerland, a director of the Chautauqua Institution Art Gallery in New York, and director of Pacific Union College's "Summer School of Art". For thirteen years he taught at a fine arts academy in China, which awarded him the honor of Distinguished visiting professor. For twenty years Rob participated in Watercolor USA as an exhibitor, curator and judge. He was President of the Watercolor USA Honor Society housed at the Springfield Art Museum, Missouri, 1997-2000. He was a juror for many watercolor exhibitions, including the National Watercolor Society. He conducted seminars and lectures across the U.S. and in more than a dozen countries. Rob Erdle's works are held in the art collections of more than 14 universities and art museums. In 2006, UNT established the Rob Erdle Award Fund, an endowment through private donors that provides financial support for watercolor students. He had a strong influence on many of our members, which is why we continue to honor him with an annual memorial award.
